For those of you who love you some Mr. Darcy. (hah!) You have a reason to pull out the Pride and Prejudice novels or DVDs. It's the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudice. This is the reason I have such a tremendous crush on Colin Firth. Ok, ok, but Colin aside, it is a wonderfully written book by the author, Jane Austen. I have such a love of her writing and characters that my shop 10 Camelia Way is inspired by all things Jane Austen.

Happy MLK Day!
The kids are happily off of school. We started the day with a pancake breakfast. Add fruits and whipped cream and you are in heaven. Then we headed off to the parade down by the waterfront. It's a beautiful sunny day!
I have been reading Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech. I hope he can see that his dream was realized. That people of all races were standing side by side celebrating his dream. I am saddened because he knew that dream would come with the ultimate sacrifice but celebrate because his vision is now a reality.

People I Dig!
Hellooo peeps!
Hope you are having a wonderful start to the new year. Like most people I have been analyzing last year, especially when it comes to my business. How did it go? What worked? What didn't? How to apply lessons learned in 2013?
While doing this I came across a sweet heart of a lady named Leonie Dawson. She hails from Down Under. She is a wonderful, free creative spirit who has been extremely successful in business and she shares all her info through e-books or for free.
I've been getting advice from her blog and YouTube videos and I recently bought two of her workbooks – 2013 Create Your Incredible Year Calendar Workbooks – one for business and one for life for about $17.95 or you can buy each separately for $9.95. Pretty reasonable price I think.
She has a great part in the workbook about letting go of 2012. I didn't really think how important this would be. But writing it down and then saying goodbye to it, really did wonders for me. I know it may sound a bit cheesy but I'm telling you it works! You say to hell with the bad parts, bring on the good parts and lets go for it in 2013!
Leonie is quirky, freaking happy with her life and just absolutely a great soul to be in touch with. If you could use a dose of happy along with great advice you can visit her site.
Hope you enjoy her as much as I do. Take a look at the workbooks below.

Happy Monday: Smallergies
My friend Tina started a new company called Smallergies. Her little one suffers from extreme allergies and she wanted to have a way to educate parents in a similar situation. She also offers cute clothing for babes and toddlers that alert caregivers to their condition. Parents can visit her facebook page to find information or just to have a support system. Head over there and give her a great big LIKE!

Painting, painting...
I am almost finished painting my sunshine yellow walls to white. It's so much brighter now. Once finished with the wall I'll concentrate on the area behind the cupboards and drawers. I found pulls and knobs that I like and a butcher block counter top at Ikea for a reasonable price. I also moved my wooden armoire into the kitchen. It will now serve as my pantry. Its a large piece, I thought about selling it but I just love the solid rustic wood with wrought iron finish. So it stays and will be useful.
I am still investigating the back splash. I am not sure about that yet but will keep you fully apprised with my progress. If you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way.

Summer Project
I can't believe we are in the midst of summer already. With that comes working on projects that I have been putting off. Hence we turn to my kitchen. It's in need of major TLC. My friends know my kitchen is an enter at your own risk space. The cabinet doors may fall off when you open them. The cabinets are extremely outdated. I am painting them white and will put on handles on them. The walls are going white as well. The sink is old, old old! I would love a farmhouse sink. The counter top is the challenge. I am thinking butcher block but I'll have to price it out to see where that would put the budget. If you have any suggestions about the counter top let me know. I am thinking about ripping out cabinets and puttin in open shelving in some places. I am in the "if you can't renovate - PAINT mode. Also the fan in the kitchen needs to be updated. Cinnamon's kennel is in the back of the kitchen and unfortunately it has become a holding spot for paint, boxes etc. All that will be moved to allow for this gorgeous wood and iron armoir that is going to become our pantry. Yes I know - ambitious, but I am an ambitious kind of gal. So now you know where I will be spending most of my summer. I'll keep you updated on my progress.
